Scotland is a nation rich in tradition, and few celebrations are as cherished as Hogmanay. It is considered bad luck to wish someone a Happy New Year before the bells strike midnight, so instead, the familiar greeting is, "Happy New Year when it comes." Once the New Year arrives, the tradition of First Footing begins, where the first visitor to cross the threshold brings symbolic gifts of coal, shortbread, fruit bun or a wee dram of whisky, each representing warmth, prosperity and good fortune for the year ahead.
Inspired by this much-loved Scottish custom, the fragrance opens with aromatic clary sage, Scottish Perthshire-grown lavender and Italian Calabrian bergamot, creating a fresh, uplifting introduction. Black pepper adds a gentle warmth, beautifully balanced by smooth grey amber and the rich woody character of Scottish oak and cypress.
As the fragrance settles, creamy sandalwood intertwines with Indonesian vanilla and Brazilian vetiver, creating a warm, comforting finish that lingers gracefully in the air. Rich, welcoming and unmistakably Scottish, it captures the timeless spirit of Hogmanay and the enduring tradition of the First Footer, bringing an atmosphere of warmth and good fortune into every home.
